This is a Highland Park tuckpointing project that we complete on the brick surface of a large chimney. This is a close-up shot of the bricks and mortar as they were before we began our tuckpointing process. Despite being made of beautiful white stone bricks the mortar on this chimney had started to wear away and crack in recent years and needed to go through a tuckpointing procedure. We can see in this photo that the bricks stand our from the joint lines quite a bit and there is only a surface layer of mortar left bonding them together. This absence of mortar is the simple result of natural weathering and erosion and our tuckpointing work will easily fill in any deficiencies, holes, or cracks to ensure that this Highland Park chimney remains in the best shape possible.

This is the chimney from above that we are completing our Highland Park tuckpointing project on. In this larger view we can see all of the work involved in tuckpointing the many courses and layers of brick and mortar joints on this chimney as well as the generous amount of mortar that has already been applied. There was practically no mortar present in the photo above and as a result there was no contrast between the stone bricks and their joint lines. In the photo above we can see that our tuckpointing work has applied mortar thoroughly along all the joint lines as evidenced by the darker and thicker colored lines surrounding all of the stone bricks.
