This is a concrete patio project that we completed in the Highland Park, Il 60035 area. The concrete patio behind this well-built Highland Park home had once served as a great backyard gathering area but had fallen into disrepair over the last couple of years. In order to repair it we had to remove all of the old concrete in order to install a completely new patio. In this photo we are in the process of removing the previous concrete by breaking up all the slabs and gravel areas and hauling them away. Once we remove all of the old concrete we will smooth and level the underlaying area and install new gravel, wire mesh, and wooden framing supports so that the newly poured concrete will be properly shaped.

We can see that all of the previous debris has been removed and that this new concrete patio is completely smooth and level. We poured different styles and colors of concrete per the homeowners’ requests to distinguish the walkways from the patio and we divided the areas into sections using ridges to help prevent future damage. We were completing a major interior and exterior renovation on this home and the homeowners requested that we also build a new front concrete porch where they could receive guests. There was no existing concrete present and in order to install this porch we had to completely clear away all of the grass, dirt, bricks, and other miscellaneous debris to create a smooth and level surface. We then installed gravel and wire mesh for support and built a wooden framing to support and structure the new concrete. The concrete porch above was the successful result of all of our efforts. The quality of our work is clearly visible as evidenced by the crisp, clean lines along the steps and edges as well as the consistently smooth top surface.
