Wilmette, Il 60091 – Tuckpointing Project 1

This is a tuckpointing project that we completed on the side of a house in the Wilmette, Il 60061 area. We can see in the photo on the left that the existing brick wall looks coarse and uneven due the the lack of mortar in between the existing bricks. This is not only an aesthetic problem but deficiencies in mortar often lead to cracks and leaks and tuckpointing is necessary to prevent these issues. These Wilmette, Il area homeowners hired us to tuckpoint this home in order to address all of these issues. We began our tuckpointing project by carefully setting up scaffolding in the surrounding area and then grinded down any of the remaining old mortar or debris. We then installed a new, thick layer of mortar in a color selected by the homeowners before we began our project. As our mortar dried we completed the tuckpointing work by smoothing and shaping it. The top right photo shows the final result of our tuckpointing work. These Wilmette, Il area homeowners were very happy with our work and this area will stay in great shape for many years to come.

Here is a photo of an in progress tuckpointing project in the Wilmette, Il area. This beautiful home has great looking brickwork however some areas particularly at the top had started to develop some holes and cracks and a tuckpointing project was necessary to repair these spots. After identifying the problem areas with the client we carefully set up our scaffolding to ensure safe and easy access to the area we needed to repair and began the tuckpointing project.

This is a close up photo of the tuckpointing project that we are completing in the photo above. At this point we see that some of the tuckpointing work has been completed as evidenced by the smooth, shaped, and intact mortar on the right side of this brick wall underneath the roof. Close up we can see that previously these bricks had deep mortar deficiencies that were starting to crack and wear away and that our tuckpointing work has improved the area by supplying all the necessary mortar to make sure that this area looks great and is able to maintain its structural integrity. Tuckpointing is an excellent way to improve or repair existing brick areas and to also prevent future damage. This Wilmette, Il area project was a great example of the value and usefulness of our tuckpointing services.
