This is a tuckpointing project that we completed on a chimney on a home in the Deerfield, Il area. This large chimney was built with diversely sized beautiful bricks however over the years the mortar in the joint lines holding together these materials had started to erode, crack, and crumble away and it was necessary to complete a tuckpointing project to repair the damage. In order to complete the tuckpointing work we first had to grind and chip away all of the old mortar and debris in order to make space for the installation of new materials. Once the joint lines were sufficiently cleaned out we began the actual tuckpointing procedure by generously applying a new layer of mortar into every joint line making sure that we covered up every hole and crack that might have been developing. We finished up our tuckpointing work by smoothing and shaping the mortar to make sure that it was evenly applied and had a smooth, consistent look. This tuckpointing project was completed successfully and has strengthened this chimney, allowing it to serve as a great asset for this Deerfield, Il area home for many more years to come.
